KOKO

What happens when a little girl’s smile gets turned upside down?

In this one-word picture book, a small girl deals with big grief.  With the help of her cat Koko and a little bit of magic, she learns that the only way to process grief is to lean into it.

There is a big hole in America surrounding the topic of grief.  We struggle with how to understand it and how to empathize with those who are grieving.  Children have these big feelings too.  And frequently these emotions and feelings are so big and complex they are beyond words.  This book is for the child (or adult) who feels paralyzed by grief or sadness.  It doesn’t offer a way out of grief, but a path through grief, by embracing the pain of missing our loved ones, alongside the joy of the memories we have with them.
